Paul has over 20 years of experience and a very successful track record as an operating executive and venture capital investor. His background includes senior management roles in the software industry in addition to his experience in developing, structuring and managing venture and private equity investments.

Until October 2010, Paul served as Managing Director at Internet Capital Group having joined ICG as its third employee shortly after it was founded in 1996. He led investments in twelve early-stage technology companies and led or participated in over 30 additional merger, acquisition, and investment transactions. His industry expertise includes Internet software, software as a service, online marketing, technology-enabled business process outsourcing and cloud computing infrastructure.

Prior to ICG, Paul was an Associate at Safeguard Scientifics, a mid-Atlantic based venture investment group and a founding investor in ICG. Paul’s prior software industry experience includes roles at SAP America where he was responsible for business development and as a Product Group Manager with Marcam Corporation. He previously held positions in product development, marketing, and sales management with IBM.

He currently serves as a Board Chairman for Thuzi and TeamZoneSports, which provide software and services to enterprises. These companies create online communities of brand owners seeking leverage in social media within their communications and ecommerce strategies.

Paul has a BS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
