This workshop teaches the principles of persuasive technology, the art and science of motivating and influencing users. We’ll cover recent brain science research and persuasive technology techniques (tailoring, surveillance, conditioning and more). We’ll break down examples, complete many small exercises and provide a design process and set of tools you can use to make your work more persuasive.
This workshop will cover free visualization tools such as R, processing, canvas, matplotlib, google widgets and many others to show you how to create great visualizations. It will also take you through the steps of getting and cleaning that data, and give you ideas of the best way to display all different kinds of information, be it numeric, geographic, temporal, topographic or networked.
