State of the Internet Operating System

Oh man, it’s a relief to watch somebody who can really present. Tim is really energetic and exciting to listen to. Great talk, some interesting bits of information, but most of all, just a great presentation style, keeps you awake.

“Work on stuff that matters”, as you mentioned during DrupalCon SF 2010, is a thinking process that allows developers and innovators to come up with solutions for “real-time intelligence delivered to mobile devices” which you clearly stated as a major interest in this Internet Operating System platform that is lurking about and needs to be found or pieced together. The strings that define the web are so intricate and illusive that it takes time to conceive an idea that points to a starting place. My question is: what about bringing data to users in a way that simplifies life and supports a need to access data in real-time where life is happening? I mean, if you are out jogging at Golden State park and in the middle of your run you need to note a great thought for a new project, or review your schedule for that day, or add items to your grocery list, or simply wanting to leave a memo for your baby sitter to listen to, then you would more than likely tell your self to remember those thoughts and hope to recall them as soon as you get to your PDA or your notebook, or perhaps you have you iPhone with you but it would be an inconvenience to stop your jog to be able to maneuver your way through the apps to achieve that goal of noting things down and later retrieve them so that you can store them in the proper folder within your system. More than likely you will miss out on half of what you thought was important at the time you thought of it. It is true that we need to as a society work on “stuff that matters” and provide everyday folks the tools to better their life and achieve more in “real-time”…a way to deliver searchable-data as it is needed, there, on the spot, and secured. We have the technology to achieve this but the process to put it together requires guidance for this single idea to give birth to a better way of living on the go, as we all now do. We need our data to stay with us as we go!
