There have been massive and significant changes in IT in the last 10 years; laptops, handhelds, Wi-Fi and even the Internet have dramatically altered the IT landscape. Working in the cloud requires a similar shift in the paradigm, as it will move fundamental on-site IT infrastructure such as servers, disks, networks, etc. to off-site resources that live in the cloud.
What will the future role of IT be in this shift?
Many enterprises have benefited from the cloud through both labor and infrastructure cost-savings. The cloud is loaded with tools that IT can use for its own purposes; from help-desk ticketing to virtually unlimited storage, this presentation will examine how IT departments will run less operationally and much more strategically. Instead of managing on-site resources, IT admins will become business savvy data experts who will also have to learn how to be relationship managers. Sponsored by Rackspace.
