Understanding what’s happening on your site in real-time requires more than just simple visit totals. Chartbeat is a tool designed to give front-line responders in organizations the actionable analytics they need to respond to what’s happening on their site.

This is a look at the design decisions a lean startup used developing the analytics software Chartbeat.com. In this session, you’ll hear about:
  • How we made real-time data easily comprehensible
  • The difference between what users say they are looking for in real-time data, and what they really use
  • How rapid iteration moved the product forward in a matter of months from prototype to launch
  • Tips and tricks used to convey a sense of “real-time” (even when it might be a little less than that)

Hi Jody -Thanks for attending. Actually, chartbeat is sampling over the day, but not taking a total. So we can tell you how many people were on your site at any one time, but not for set intervals. This blog post covers it pretty well, I hope: blog.chartbeat.com/2010/02/...

Interesting presentation; I see that you use Google Analytics on the chartbeat site – do your end of day #’s match theirs?
