Take your hacking skills “from zero to hero” by learning to install and modify WordPress, a simple yet powerful blogging tool which underlies nearly 80% of blogs. This hands-on workshop will teach you not only WordPress basics to get you up and running with a blog or website of your own, it will also provide an essential web technology orientation for non-geeks. (Bring a laptop!) So whether you’re looking to start a blog or hoping to be more conversant with the web developers in your organization, this workshop is for you.
Participants will be a given a free year of hosting for the blogs they create during the session, and they’ll learn:
Nate Westheimer is the Co-Founder and EVP of Product & Technology at AnyClip.com, a company indexing every moment from every film. Formerly, Nate was the Entrepreneur at Rose Tech Ventures, Founder of BricaBox.com, and the Technology Strategist for National Public Media. Nate blogs at innonate.com and guest writes for Silicon Alley Insider, among other outlets. Currently, Nate also serves as the Executive Director of the NY Tech Meetup, a 12,000 member organization of technologists in the New York City area.
Jonathan Berger practices Agile software development with Pivotal Labs, and is the Co-Founder of Market Publique, an online vintage fashion marketplace. Jonathan has a long history of organizing within the NY Tech community, currently or formerly helping organize IgniteNYC, Startup Weekend, FashionCamp, and Barcamp.

Had lots of potential, but got dragged down by all the setup of a hands-on workshop despite their best intentions to be prepared.
Hey Everyone! I’m excited about hosting this session. Please let me know if you have ideas about what you’re expecting or what to learn so we make sure and cover it!
