Web2Open, presented by the PodCamp Foundation, is Web 2.0 Expo’s "unconference"- a free, community-driven event happening at Javits, where you can connect with other participants to discuss Web 2.0 topics and questions. As an unconference, there will be a mix of pre-scheduled content and an open grid for attendees to add sessions via an onsite grid. All talks will emphasize participation and conversation over presentations. The pre-planned discussions will range from what's coming in Augmented Reality to Journalism, Trust and Social Media, to How to Become a Leader in the New Collaborative Economy and beyond. For the open grid sessions, we want you to pose burning questions that you absolutely must get the answer to . Maybe you need to know how to figure out the ROI of Facebook. Maybe you need to learn how to make great Internet video. Whatever your burning question is, we want you to ask it at Web2Open.
The event is a great way to network with other attendees, learn more about elements of Web 2.0, and share your experience!
More information on the pre-scheduled sessions and other details regarding Web2Open will be available soon.
If you are registered for any Web 2.0 Expo package you automatically have access to Web2Open. If you do not have a badge and would like to attend Web2Open for free, register for an Expo Only pass using code webny09opn now through November 15, 2009. This pass will give you access to Web2Open, Hybrid Sessions, Keynotes, the Expo Hall, and BoFs.
Web2Open sessions are aimed at creating a forum for community dialogue and discussion around topics of interest (last year's included sessions like Entrepreneurship Hacks and Troll Whispering), and take place concurrently with Web 2.0 Expo sessions during the day. BoFs provide the space and opportunity for organizations and groups to connect, network, and share ideas (e.g. Linux, Higher Education) after sessions end for the day. To submit a BoF, please visit the Birds of a Feather page.
