Web2Open is Web 2.0 Expo’s "unconference" - a free, community-driven event where you can connect with other participants on Web 2.0 topics that you want to discuss. As an unconference Web2Open lets attendees determine available sessions using an on-site grid, and it emphasizes participation over presentations.
Web2Open sessions are meant to stimulate conversation on your Web 2.0 successes, challenges, questions and curiosities.
This year, Web2Open will feature a handful of pre-scheduled hybrid and discussion sessions seeded with people who are passionate about their topics.
Web2Open is a great way to network with other attendees, learn more about elements of Web 2.0, and share your experience!

Most sessions will be determined on-site, as attendees such as yourself propose and lead sessions. To propose a topic for Web2Open, we invite you to sign up for Web 2.0 Expo New York's social network - CrowdVine. Once you're signed up on CrowdVine, you can either start a discussion or make a blog post with the topic(s) you are interested in. You'll also be able to meet other attendees and hear about their sessions ideas. A small selection of sessions with the most community interest will be taken from the CrowdVine discussions and populated on the Web2Open grid - with all others being posted on site.
We've got a strong line up of speakers in the main conference program so we selected the following sessions as "hybrid" talks, accessible to Web2Open registrants. These sessions will be followed with same-topic, speaker-led discussions in the Web2Open rooms.
If you are registered for any Web 2.0 Expo package you automatically have access to Web2Open. If you do not have a badge and would like to attend Web2Open for free, register for an Expo pass using code webny08opn now through September 15, 2008. This pass will give you access to Web2Open, Hybrid Sessions, Keynotes, the Expo Floor and BoFs.
Web2Open sessions are aimed to create a forum for community dialogue and discussion around topics of interest. (e.g. How to Bootstrap Your Startup, Leveraging the Social Graph for Your Business)
BoFs provide the space and opportunity for organizations and groups to connect, network and share ideas. (e.g. Linux, Higher Education)
