Jari Pasanen
Vice President, Corporate Development Office, Nokia

Jari Pasanen was appointed Vice President, Innovation Acceleration in January 2008 and is based in Tampere, Finland. He has been responsible for driving the innovation process for the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, based on consumer and business needs and overseeing Nokia’s research strategy and portfolio. Currently he is acting as a Senior Advisor for the process of creating a portfolio of activities leading into the next growth areas for Nokia beyond current core businesses.

Prior to his current role, Jari has held a variety of roles of increasing seniority, covering research & development, technology management, quality, strategy and business development in Nokia’s former Mobile Phones and Multimedia business groups.

Jari Pasanen joined Nokia in 1993 from the Tampere University of Technology (TUT), where he was a Research Scientist in the Signal Processing Laboratory. He holds a Licentiate in Technology degree from TUT and has also studied sociology, philosophy, journalism and mass media communications at the University of Tampere.

In addition to his responsibilities at Nokia, Jari serves as an Industrial Advisor for CapMan PLC, a Nordic asset management company. In this role, Jari mentors and challenges the CapMan technology portfolio companies in their strategy and business plans.

Married with two children, Jari enjoys relaxing with guitars and motorcycles, though not at the same time!
